Led the reimagining of the Adler Planetarium’s human space flight gallery “Mission Moon”. Researched and wrote all the labels and video scripts. Curated the images and collaborated with the Adler’s Collection department to select and display artifacts appropriately.
Mentored and guided Illinois Institute of Technology students to create the Community Design Lab, an adaptive, co-creative space that inspired exploration and discovery. Through hands on, minds on activities, guests were challenged to design a solution utilizing reusable materials.
Led institutional team to plan and execute the culminating event, Eclipse Fest, after three-year effort to educate, empower, and encourage citizens of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs to safely look up at the 2017 Solar Eclipse. Over 60,000 people attended the event and a quarter of a million safe solar observing glasses were distributed to individuals and partners across the city and state.
Collaborated with internal and external partners to create family focused interactive exhibit, Planet Explorers, from initial concept through construction. Designed and administered programming for families with young children and teachers in cooperation with community and school partners.
Implemented Adler’s signature young adult program, Adler After Dark. Utilizing live music, hands-on activities, and social media, the event’s programming reinvents the Adler every month. In cooperation with civic organizations and external sponsors, Adler After Dark witnessed growth in both revenue and attendance.
Partnered with the DuSable Museum of African American History to commemorate the book and film “Hidden Figures”. Experience included installation of an exhibition dedicated to the women of “Hidden Figures”, as well as two free student screening of the film, and an evening moderated panel featuring current STEM leaders.
Celebrated humanity’s final steps on the Moon with a special screening of “Last Man on the Moon” followed by a moderated conversation with Apollo astronaut Gene Cernan.
